Masterson’s Lounge, located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my latest trip at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I encountered behind its threshold was disturbing and far below any standard .
The Condition of the Premises : Grimy and Neglected Beyond Belief
From the moment I entered , it was clear that upkeep was not a priority at this bar . The ground was covered in grime , and a foul smell of decaying beverages and uncleaned toilets filled the entire bar . With a smell of a mixture of ammonia , decay and a sickly smell. The serving zone , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was overflowing with soiled cups and trash that looked like it had accumulated over weeks. The bathroom was in even a truly awful state— backed up, with a cracked flush mechanism and walls covered in what I can only assume was human excrement .

For a business that provides refreshments , these issues are entirely inappropriate and raise serious concerns about the integrity of anything they serve .

His presence at the bar often seemed closer to that of a sweating predator than a amiable manager.
